What does a radiographer do?
A radiographer is responsible for taking accurate images of the inside of the body. This can include X-rays to diagnose broken bones, MRI scans to analyse brain activity, or ultrasound images to monitor a baby’s development in the womb. The role can be diagnostic (to help doctors identify conditions) or therapeutic (for example, applying radiation to fight cancer or break down blockages such as kidney stones).
What is the difference between a radiographer and radiologist?
It can be easy to confuse radiographers and radiologists, since both work with radiation and imaging equipment. The difference is that while radiographers are responsible for taking the images or applying the radiation, radiologists are responsible for interpreting the pictures. For example, somebody who goes to the hospital with a suspected broken bone will have an X-ray taken by a radiographer. The radiologist will then analyse the X-ray to make a diagnosis and suggest treatment.
How much does a radiographer earn?

How do I become a radiographer?
To start practising, radiographers need to have completed an undergraduate degree or postgraduate qualification approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Is a radiographer a doctor?
